So, here’s where I am with my music. I reckon my songs are reasonably decent. They have strong melodies, catchy bits and hooky lyrics! But I know I need to improve my production, mixing and mastering skills. So everything is a work in progresss.
I’ve been releasing some music onto the various streaming platforms – Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, etc. But I’m really not loving that process – it’s like your song goes away from you as a done deal, and you never see it again (and chances are, noone else does either!) I’m not sure I’m at that stage of releasing a song into the world without any opportunity for its redemption or rehabilitation.
Bandcamp affords me the luxury of time whilst still feeling like I’ve shared it with the world. I can tweak the track and reupload – I can improve it, and whatever listeners I have will get the benefit too.
Of course, I don’t want to be forever revisiting old tracks, but I want to learn as I go and not feel that there has to be perfection from the first release. That there will never be!
If you want to assist me in my journey, please listen to my music at wildcalm.bandcamp.com – let me know what you liked and what you didn’t!
